Bede - Bede (Latin Beda), also known as Saint Bede or, more commonly, the Venerable Bede (ca. 672 – May 27, 735), was a monk at the Northumbrian monastery of Saint Peter at Wearmouth (today part of Sunderland), and of its companion monastery, Saint Paul's, in modern Jarrow.
Saint Egbert - Saint Egbert (died 729) was a novice in the Benedictine monastery of Lindisfarne in Northumbria in Anglo-Saxon England. As a youth Egbert travelled to Ireland himself in search of learning (as Ireland, at that time, had a better preserved literate tradition) and settled at the monastery of Rathelmigisi (Rathmelsigi), according to Bede, identified with Mellifont in County Louth or else in Connaught.
